We want to say a huge thank you...
This year for Winter 2024, we have launched our 'Donate for a Brick' campaign. As part of this campaign we have had the pleasure of working with some incredibly talented people, who have truly helped us bring the visual aspects to life.
Beth Cameron, otherwise known as BethJCreate, is a recent Graphic Design Masters graduate. Beth is also our Marketing and Campaigns Coordinator, and she created and managed this campaign as part of her final project at York St John University last year. Her focus was to work with us here at York Mind to develop a campaign that really highlights the importance of reaching out for help, but also that lets people know about all of the different services we offer here at York Mind.
Beth recruited four amazing animation volunteers to help create the excellent animations that will be showcased across our Youtube channel and social media over the next few months. All of the animators were also students at York St John University! Please scroll down the page to find out more about Beth and all of the animators, as well as links to view more of their brilliant work!
When asked about the aesthetics behind the campaign, Beth said, "the animations, posters, and social media graphics are all drawn or handwritten by hand to really add that personal feel. Reaching out for help for your mental health IS personal, and we really wanted to reflect this, whilst making the visuals as simple and as accessible to as many people as possible".

'My style of work is rather broad; I like to challenge myself with different 2D styles and that takes me to many places! I have a need to incorporate my love of film language into my works; exploring the use of colours, shot composition, framing and the like. Currently, I'm furthering my skills down in London where I want to hone and sculpt my voice to something more recognisable’
'Working on the York Mind project may have produced one of my favourite works in the last couple of years. Beth was great to work with and getting to animate in a morphing style about a topic I care about deeply makes it really satisfying to look back on.'

'I specialise in 2D hand-drawn animation and I like to experiment with different techniques and styles to best tell a story. Working on this project was really fulfilling knowing that it would help spread important information about services that can help people with their mental health. The team were all very supportive and gave excellent feedback throughout. Overall, it was a wonderful project to be a part of!'
